Opening the Computer Tower
For an assignment we were instructed to make a Power Point presentation. We were given a topic related to the tower. Our topic was hard drives.
The picture to the left shows the inside of a computer tower. We study the:
- Motherboard
- CPU (Central Processing Unit)
- RAM (Random Access Memory)
- Hard Disk Drive
- Floppy Disk Drive
- DVD (Digital Video Disk)
- Mouse
- Monitor
- Printer
We learn how these parts function, what their purpose are, and where they are located. If you think that’s all there is, think again! That was just a section of unit one. We learned about jobs related to Computer Engineering Technology. Related jobs could be graphic designing, computer programming, and video-game developing. We also learned about operating systems, such as, DOS, Windows 7, Windows Vista, Windows XP, and Mac.
We used Command Prompt. People used codes to make computer files open, or get from page to the next through Command Prompt. Now we can conveniently click a button and in seconds we open a file, or jump between pages on the Internet.

Command Prompt
The picture to the left is how the Command Prompt program looks like. So imagine deleting files, or opening a document by programming it! But when you have to program something, there has to be a 'help' button... right? Well of course! When you type "help" you get a huge list of different commands, but you have to know how to use them all!!
